Rather expected game in Venezia where 13th ranked Borgotaro (2-11) was defeated by tenth ranked Marghera (5-7) 70-59 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-59. Marghera outrebounded Borgotaro 37-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Bulgarian forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Marta Granzotto (176-92) chipped in 16 points and 5 steals. At the losing side Hungarian swingman Judit Fritz (183-87, college: St.Francis, NY) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Federica Scanzani (168-86) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Marghera moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Cagliari V. Borgotaro lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Marghera will face higher ranked Muggia (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Borgotaro will play against Biassono (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
