Regular Season Round 27: Miyazaki SS - Niigata Albirex 96-90

There was a change at the BJ League leadership position after last games. Round 27 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Niigata Albirex (14-9). They were defeated by seventh ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (12-13) 96-90 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Niigata Albirex. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Niigata Albirex won fourth quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Miyazaki Shining Suns dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata Albirex's 42 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Darryl Dora (206-85, college: Texas Tech) helped adding 8 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) with 24 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Four Miyazaki Shining Suns and five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Miyazaki Shining Suns maintains seventh place with 12-13 record. Niigata Albirex at the other side still keeps top position with nine games lost. They share it with Akita NH. They were replaced at the leadership position by Akita NH. Niigata Albirex will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Miyazaki Shining Suns will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Niigata Albirex at home.
