Regular Season Round 13: McMaster - Waterloo 79-51
Date: January 7, 2012
Rather predictable result in Hamilton where sixth ranked McMaster (5-5) outscored 8th ranked Waterloo (1-9) 79-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. McMaster led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. McMaster forced 27 Waterloo turnovers. It was a great shooting night for McMaster especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Waterloo's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when McMaster made 7 blocks. Waterloo was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Hailey Milligan (191-89, college: Canisius) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Abby Hurd (170) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Four McMaster players scored in double figures. Guard Madison Behr (178) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and guard Marti Killeen (180) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. McMaster moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Waterloo lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. McMaster will face league's leader Brock in Catharines in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Waterloo will play on the road against the league's second-placed Windsor (#2).
