Regular Season Round 13: Laurier - Brock 77-69

Undefeated Brock (9-1) recorded its first loss in Waterloo on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Laurier (7-3) 77-69. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Brock. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Brock won second period 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Laurier won last quarter 28-21. Laurier outrebounded Brock 47-27 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Doreen Bonsu (173) fired 8 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Shelby Kurt (185) chipped in 19 points. Four Laurier players scored in double figures. Guard Andrea Polischuk (180) produced 22 points and forward Nicole Rosenkranz (185) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Laurier have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Brock at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Laurier will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brock will play at home against McMaster in Hamilton and is hoping to win this game.
