No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Valencia Basket (8-7) beat 13th ranked Gran Canaria 2014 (5-10) in Las Palmas 71-63 on Sunday. Gran Canaria 2014 trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 23-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-71 at the end of the game. It was a good game for American forward Nik Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Priority Sports) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Rafael Martinez (191-82) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Colombian power forward Juan Palacios (204-85) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) added 16 points and 4 steals in the effort for Gran Canaria 2014. Gran Canaria 2014's coach let to play ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valencia Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Cajasol. Gran Canaria 2014 lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Valencia Basket will face Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#10) in Madrid in the next round. Gran Canaria 2014 will play at home against Asefa Estudiantes (#11) in Madrid.
