Regular Season Round 21: LKS Lodz - Stelmet ZG 59-91
Date: January 8, 2012
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Zastal ZG (12-7) crushed bottom-ranked LKS Sphinx (3-17) in Lodz 91-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Zastal ZG. LKS Sphinx managed to win second period 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zastal ZG dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to LKS Sphinx's 32. Ivorian-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) nailed 26 points and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Jakub Dloniak (192-83, agency: Promotex) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Zastal ZG players scored in double figures. Forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) came up with 4 points and 11 rebounds and forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) added 13 points respectively for LKS Sphinx in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Zastal ZG. They moved-up to fifth place. LKS Sphinx lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Zastal ZG will meet at home league's second-placed Anwil in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. LKS Sphinx will play against PGE Turow (#3) in Zgorzelec and hope to secure a win.
