Regular Season Round 24: Salon Vilpas - Namika Lahti 85-67

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Namika Lahti (5-17) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Salon Vilpas (9-13) 85-67. It looked good early as Namika Lahti took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Salon Vilpas had a 29-15 second period charge getting the lead and Namika Lahti was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-85. They outrebounded Namika Lahti 48-29 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Salon Vilpas players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a good game for guard Emmanuel Holloway (188-86, college: Illinois St.) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Four Salon Vilpas players scored in double figures. Salon Vilpas' coach Mikko Tupamaki used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ryan Brooks (193-81, college: Temple, agency: Pro One Sports) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Malik Moore (192-77, college: Amer.Internat., agency: Prossin Sports Management) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Namika Lahti. Salon Vilpas moved-up to seventh place. Namika Lahti at the other side stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Salon Vilpas' next round opponent will be league's leader Joensuun Kataja on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Namika Lahti will play against UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
