Regular Season Round 14: St.Mary's - UPEI 91-83

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Panthers (6-2) against sixth ranked Huskies (4-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Panthers were defeated by Huskies in a tough game in Halifax, NS 83-91. Panthers trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 30-23 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 83-91 at the end of the game. Huskies dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Tory Fassett notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and guard Jerome Smith supported him with 13 points and 6 assists. Four Huskies players scored in double figures. Even 29 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) by guard Jonathan Cooper (183-88) did not help to save the game for Panthers. Guard Terrence Brown (186) added 23 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Huskies moved-up to fourth place. Loser Panthers keep the second position with two games lost. They share it with UBC. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
