There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Assignia Manresa (6-9) lost to fourteenth ranked Asefa Estudiantes (6-9) in Madrid 70-76 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 42-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Asefa Estudiantes dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Assignia Manresa's 26 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Assignia Manresa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (186-89) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Center German Gabriel (207-80) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import guard Micah Downs (203-86, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) added 21 points in the effort for Assignia Manresa. Four Assignia Manresa players scored in double figures. Asefa Estudiantes moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Assignia M. Asefa Estudiantes will face Gran Canaria 2014 (#14) in Las Palmas in the next round.
