Rather expected game when 5th ranked Matera (7-11) lost on the road to second ranked Orlandina (12-6) 92-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Orlandina. Matera was better in third quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Orlandina outrebounded Matera 37-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Orlandina especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a good game for the former international guard Fabio Zanelli (196-76) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. Forward Nicholas Crow (199-89) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian guard Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) replied with 20 points and 6 assists and power forward Cristiano Grappasonni (204-72) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Matera. Four Orlandina and five Matera players scored in double figures. Orlandina have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Orlandina maintains second position with 12-6 record having just two points less than leader Trento, which they share with Ferentino. Loser Matera keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Orlandina will face Anagni (#6) on the road in the next round. Matera will play against Mazzeo San Severo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
