Regular Season Round 22: TianJin S. - DongGuan L. 89-91

Sixteenth-ranked TianJin Rongcheng (6-15) gave a tough game to fifth ranked DongGuan Leopards (13-8) in Tianjin on Sunday. The visitors from DongGuan managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 28-23 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. TianJin Rongcheng was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Donnell Harvey (203-80, college: Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Nan Zhang (197-81) scored 16 points and 7 assists. Four DongGuan Leopards and five TianJin Rongcheng players scored in double figures. TianJin Rongcheng's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. DongGuan Leopards have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. TianJin Rongcheng lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 15 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face Qingdao Double Star (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TianJin Rongcheng will play against Fujian SBS XunXin (#7) in Jinjiang.
