Regular Season Round 22: Guangsha L. - Shanghai S. 88-97

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (14-7) against sixth ranked Shanghai Sharks (12-8) on Sunday night. Host Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were defeated by Shanghai Sharks in a tough game in Hangzhou 88-97. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Zhejiang Guangsha Lions won second period 28-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Zhejiang Guangsha Lions' 34. American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) notched 29 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and international point guard Wei Liu (190-80) supported him with 13 points. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Wilson Chandler (203-87, college: De Paul) did not help to save the game for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. American-Puerto Rican center Peter John Ramos (222-85) added 14 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Four Shanghai Sharks and five Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Sharks have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Zhejiang C. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Beijing Ducks. Shanghai Sharks will play against Jilin Tigers (#13) in Changchun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will have a break next round.
