The most exciting game of round 16 in the SM-sarja took place in Aanekoski. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Peli-Karhut (11-5) to second ranked Aanekosken (12-4) 88-86 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Peli-Karhut. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-86. Aanekosken dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Peli-Karhut's 36. They outrebounded Peli-Karhut 56-31 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kenya Robinson (182-70, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 27 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Madina Ali (182-87, college: W.Virginia) who added 27 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Becca Bruszewski (185-88, college: Notre Dame) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and international guard Linda-Lotta Lehtoranta (175-91) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Four Aanekosken and five Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Aanekosken have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader Catz. Defending champion Peli-Karhut dropped to the third place with five games lost. Aanekosken are looking forward to face Forssan Alku (#4) on the road in the next round. Peli-Karhut will play against Torpan Pojat in Helsinki and is hoping to win this game.
