Regular Season Round 15: Cantu - Angelico BI 66-61
Date: January 8, 2012
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Bennet Cantu (9-5) won against at home 9th ranked Angelico Biella (7-7) 66-61 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 19-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Angelico Biella was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Denis Marconato (212-75) contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international swingman Matteo Soragna (198-75) answered with 21 points and Spanish center Albert Miralles (208-82, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Angelico Biella. Bennet Cantu have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with CS Bologna. Angelico Biella lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Bennet Cantu will face Fabi Shoes Montegranaro (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
