Regular Season Round 11: Maccabi Ashdod - Ganei Tikva 59-60

The most exciting game of round 11 in the D1 took place in Ashdod. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (7-2) to sixth ranked B.C. Habikaa (6-4) 60-59 on Monday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 20-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. B.C. Habikaa forced 19 Maccabi Ashdod turnovers. It was a great evening for American center Jenna Smith (191-88, college: Illinois) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Nyeshia Stevenson (175-88, college: Oklahoma) helped adding 18 points. American Plenette Pierson (188-81, college: Texas Tech) responded with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Armenian center Brittany Denson (192-87, college: S.Florida) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. B.C. Habikaa moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Maccabi R.Hen. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. B.C. Habikaa is looking forward to face league's second-placed Ramat Hasharon on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion and is hoping to win this game.
