Regular Season Round 23: TianJin S. - Fujian QB 114-111

A very interesting game took place in Tianjin. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (12-10) to sixteenth ranked TianJin Rongcheng (7-15) 114-111 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fujian SBS XunXin. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 34-28 run, which allowed them to win the game. TianJin Rongcheng made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Fujian SBS XunXin outrebounded TianJin Rongcheng 49-27 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. TianJin Rongcheng brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Fujian SBS XunXin helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nan Zhang (197-81) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 4 assists. Forward GuiJun Xu (202-80) accounted for 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds and American guard Anthony Roberson (188-83, college: Florida) added 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds respectively for Fujian SBS XunXin in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Fujian SBS XunXin's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. TianJin Rongcheng moved-up to fifteenth place. Fujian SBS XunXin at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. TianJin Rongcheng's next round opponent will be higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#10) in Urumqi and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
