Ninth-ranked KTP-Basket (8-15) made lots of trouble for third ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (15-8) in Kauhajoki on Wednesday. Kauhajoen Karhu managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of KTP-Basket. The hosts trailed by 15 points at the halftime before their 59-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kauhajoen Karhu made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. KTP-Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: R.H.Consultancy) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) chipped in 18 points. American forward Tim Blue (205-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) produced 22 points and 5 blocks and swingman Juho-Matti Lehtoranta (194-89) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four KTP-Basket players scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-8 record having four points less than leader Kataja. Loser KTP-Basket keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will face league's second-placed Loimaan Korikonkarit on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. KTP-Basket will play against the league's leader Joensuun Kataja (#1).
