Very expected game when 11th ranked Qingdao Double Star (9-13) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked DongGuan Leopards (14-8) 103-93 on Wednesday. Qingdao Double Star was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. DongGuan Leopards made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international center Kai Zhang (211-82) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 28 points. Five DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards' coach Brian Goorjian used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Lester Hudson (191-84, college: Tenn-Martin) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and Palestinian power forward Sani Sakakini (203-88) added 28 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for DongGuan Leopards. They maintain fourth place with 14-8 record. Loser Qingdao Double Star keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face Shandong Bulls (#13) in Jinan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Double Star will play on the road against Fujian SBS XunXin in Jinjiang.
