Regular Season Round 22: Stelmet ZG - Anwil 81-65

The most important game in the last round took place in Zielona Gora between second ranked Anwil (14-6) and fifth ranked Zastal ZG (13-7) on Thursday night. Anwil was defeated by Zastal ZG on the road 81-65. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Anwil. The game was mostly controlled by Zastal ZG. Anwil managed to win second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Anwil helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Ivorian-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Zastal ZG players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Nick Lewis (207-83, college: San Diego) responded with 14 points and his fellow American import power forward Corsley Edwards (205-79, college: Cent.Conn.St.) scored 12 points. Anwil's coach Emir Mutapcic rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Zastal ZG have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 13-7 record. Anwil at the other side dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Energa Czarni. Zastal ZG are looking forward to face league's leader Trefl Sopot on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Anwil will play against the league's second-placed PGE Turow in Zgorzelec and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
