There was no surprise when 14th ranked Olimpico de La Banda (3-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Libertad Sunchales (10-3) 85-75 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 43-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Olimpico de La Banda was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Robert Battle (204-81, college: Drexel, agency: Dream Team Management) fired 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jonatan Treise (182-85) chipped in 16 points. American center DeVon Hardin (211-86) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Gregory Grays (185-79, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Five Libertad Sunchales and four Olimpico de La Banda players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Libertad Sunchales. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Penarol. Olimpico de La Banda at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with nine games lost. Libertad Sunchales will face Atenas (#4) in Cordoba in the next round. Olimpico de La Banda will play on the road against Quimsa (#8) in Santiado Estero.
