The game in Helsinki was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Tampereen Pyrinto (13-10) played at the court of fifth ranked Torpan Pojat (13-10). Torpan Pojat managed to secure a 8-point victory 86-78 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 29-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Torpan Pojat outrebounded Tampereen Pyrinto 43-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) notched 18 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and forward Timo Heinonen (198-81) supported him with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Five Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) did not help to save the game for Tampereen Pyrinto. His fellow American import guard Kenneth Lowe (192-80, college: Purdue) added 28 points (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) for the guests. Torpan Pojat moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pyrinto. Tampereen Pyrinto lost third consecutive game. Torpan Pojat will meet higher ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tampereen Pyrinto will have a break next round.
