The most exciting game of round 24 in the CBA took place in Taiyuan. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Beijing Ducks (15-8) to ninth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (11-10) 114-111 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Beijing Ducks cut a 14-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard XiaoMing Lu (176-79) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Beijing Ducks. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shanxi Zhongyu maintains ninth position with 11-10 record, which they share with Xinjiang F.T. Beijing Ducks at the other side keep the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with DongGuan L.. Shanxi Zhongyu is looking forward to face TianJin Rongcheng (#16) in Tianjin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Beijing Ducks will play at home against Bayi Fubang (#14) in Ningbo and are hoping to win this game.
