CBA top team - Guandong Tigers (19-4) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Foshan (6-16) 133-124. The guests were already 14 points ahead at halftime and as many as 22 after three quarters before a 42-29 last quarter charge of Foshan cut the lead to 133-124 at the end of the game. Guandong Tigers forced 22 Foshan turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Guandong Tigers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. 27 personal fouls committed by Foshan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Aaron Brooks (183-85, college: Oregon) who scored 31 points and 5 assists. The other American import forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Syrian guard Michel Maadanly (195-81) who recorded 42 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American-Filipino power forward Marcus Douthit (210-80, college: Providence, agency: Edge Sports) added 30 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks respectively. Five Guandong Tigers and four Foshan players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-4 record. Foshan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 16 games lost. Guandong Tigers' next round opponent will be Shanghai Sharks (#7) on the road where they are favorite. Foshan will play against the league's second-placed DongGuan Leopards (#2).
