Very expected game when 14th ranked Nice (3-13) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Charleville-Mezieres (7-8) 66-59 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-12. But Nice won second period 13-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Charleville-Mezieres forced 28 Nice turnovers. Nice was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Fabienne Constant (186-86) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Estonian swingman Merike Anderson (180-81, agency: LBM Management) scored 13 points. Charleville-Mezieres maintains eighth position with 7-8 record. Nice lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Charleville-Mezieres will face Villeneuve D'Asco (#11) at home in the next round. Nice will play against Basket Landes in Mont de Marsan.
