Very expected game when 9th ranked AIS (1-16) was rolled over on the road by fourth ranked Townsville Fire (11-7) 82-60. The game without a history. Townsville Fire led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Townsville Fire outrebounded AIS 50-32 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international guard Jessica Foley (182-83, college: Duke) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Casey Samuels (180-94) added 11 points respectively for AIS in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Townsville Fire moved-up to third place. AIS lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost. Townsville Fire's next round opponent will be Sydney Uni Flames (#4) at home. AIS will play against the league's second-placed Bulleen Boomers (#2) in Melbourne.
