Regular Season Round 13: Sydney UF - Bulleen B. 71-80

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sydney. Second ranked Bulleen Boomers faced 3rd placed Sydney Uni Flames. Guests from Melbourne (11-4) defeated host Sydney Uni Flames (10-6) 80-71. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Sydney Uni Flames won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bulleen Boomers brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Liz Cambage (203-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. International guard Rachel Jarry (185-91) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Bulleen Boomers players scored in double figures. American forward Amy Denson (186-84, college: Arizona St.) answered with 28 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Belinda Snell (181-81) added 21 points (made all of her seven free throws) in the effort for Sydney Uni Flames. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Adelaide. Sydney Uni Flames at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Bendigo S.. Bulleen Boomers will play against AIS (#9) in Belconnen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sydney Uni Flames will play on the road against Logan Thunder (#7) in Loganholme and hope to get back on the winning track.
