Leader Adelaide Lightning delivered the thirteenth victory on Friday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked West Coast Waves (1-16) 84-51 in Perth. The game was mostly controlled by Adelaide Lightning. West Coast Waves managed to win fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Adelaide Lightning dominated on the defensive end, holding West Coast Waves to just 6 points in third quarter. Adelaide Lightning forced 19 West Coast Waves turnovers and had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by West Coast Waves' players. The former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (193-80) stepped up and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and international center Abby Bishop (189-88) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Five Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Rohanee Cox (182-80) responded with 14 points and guard Jasmine Hooper (177-91) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Adelaide Lightning. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. West Coast Waves lost their tenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. They share it with AIS. Adelaide Lightning will meet Dandenong Rangers (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. West Coast Waves will play against Bendigo Spirit (#5).
