Regular Season Round 16: Brest - Clermont 90-57

Very expected game when 14th ranked Stade Clermont (5-11) was crushed on the road by tenth ranked Etendard de Brest (9-7) 90-57. The game without a history. Etendard de Brest led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Etendard de Brest outrebounded Stade Clermont 54-38 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Johan Rathieuville (177-85) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Guard Zaka Alao (187-81) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Etendard de Brest players scored in double figures. Forward Jonathan Beugnot (201-83, college: Clayton St.) replied with 8 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Jonathan McClark (200-77, college: Rider) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Stade Clermont. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Etendard de Brest moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Roche and Challans. Stade Clermont at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Etendard de Brest's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Saint-Quentin on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Stade Clermont will play against Souffelweyersheim (#3) in Souffel. and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
