Regular Season Round 15: Calgary - Saskatchewan 72-78

There was an upset in Exshaw where 4th placed Calgary (7-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Saskatchewan (5-5) 78-72 on Friday. Calgary trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 25-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-78 at the end of the game. Saskatchewan made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Calgary turnovers and had a 25-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Calgary was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Katie Miyazaki (175-89) who led her team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward Dalyce Emmerson (191) helped adding 12 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Jenna Kaye (168) with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and forward Alex Cole (185-90) scored 16 points. Five Saskatchewan and four Calgary players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Saskatchewan moved-up to eighth place. Loser Calgary dropped to the second position with four games lost. Saskatchewan will have a break next round. Calgary will play again at home against Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.
