Regular Season Round 15: Alberta - Lethbridge 72-50
Date: January 13, 2012
Very predictable result in Edmonton where third ranked Alberta (8-3) smashed 13th ranked Lethbridge (2-9) 72-50 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-50. Alberta dominated on the defensive end, holding Lethbridge to just 6 points in second quarter. It was a great evening for guard Nicole Clarke (180-90) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points. Guard Sarah Binns (183-91) helped adding 14 points. The best for the losing side was forward Kimberley Veldman (188) with 8 points and 9 rebounds and guard Lauren Taal (175) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Alberta moved-up to second place, which they share with Laurier and UFV. Lethbridge lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Alberta will face again Lethbridge (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them.
