There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (8-8) won against on the road 7th ranked Valencia Basket (8-8) 76-69 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-69. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. New Zealand guard Kirk Penney (196-80, college: Wisconsin) fired 27 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Saul Blanco (195-85) chipped in 16 points. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's coach Porfirio Fisac used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Nik Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Priority Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and French guard Nando De Colo (202-87) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Valencia and CAI Zaragoza. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will meet at home Blancos de Rueda (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valencia Basket will play against FIATC Joventut (#15) in Badalona and hope to secure a win.
