Regular Season Round 15: BC Nokia - Oulun NMKY 80-82

Important game to mention about took place in Nokia. Sixth ranked Oulun NMKY (9-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked BC Nokia (10-5) 82-80 on Saturday evening. The guests were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 27-23 run, which allowed them to win the game. Oulun NMKY outrebounded BC Nokia 41-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Lloyd Phillips (178-85, college: Illinois St.) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Josh Nofflet (194-88, college: Lee) accounted for 21 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. American-British power forward Gerald January (201-88, college: Montevallo) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for BC Nokia in the defeat. Four BC Nokia players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Oulun NMKY maintains sixth place with 9-6 record. BC Nokia at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Oulun NMKY will play against bottom-ranked BC Jyvaskyla (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BC Nokia will play against the league's second-placed Forssan Koripojat (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
