The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Warriors' (4-8) road loss to sixth ranked Gryphons (7-5) in Guelph, ON 63-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Warriors was better in second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Gryphons won last quarter 26-8. They also forced 20 Warriors turnovers. Guard Kareem Malcolm (183) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 assists. Guard Zachary Angus (186) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gryphons players scored in double figures. Guard Wayne Bridge (188-90) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and guard Cam McIntyre (191-87) added 15 points in the effort for Warriors. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gryphons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Brock and UFV. Warriors lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Gryphons will face league's second-placed Golden Hawks in Waterloo, ON in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Warriors will play at home against Badgers (#5) in St.Catharines, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
