A2 top team - Panelefsiniakos (11-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat twelfth ranked Panerythraikos (6-8) in New Eritrea 69-59. The game was mostly controlled by Panelefsiniakos. Panerythraikos was better in second period 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Panerythraikos 45-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. Guard Spyros Magounis (200-85, agency: FCM) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Giannis Kyriakopoulos (185-83) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Center Kostas Macheras (205-85, agency: FCM) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Tasos Kallianotis (193-83) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panelefsiniakos maintains first position with 11-3 record. Panerythraikos at the other side keeps the twelfth place with eight games lost. Panelefsiniakos will play against Pagrati (#13) in Athens in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Panerythraikos will play on the road against Ikaroi Serron in Serres and hopes to get back on the winning track.
