Regular Season Round 16: Manitoba - Regina 52-105
Date: January 14, 2012
Not a big story in a game in Winnipeg where 11th ranked Manitoba (3-9) was outplayed by top-ranked Regina (11-0) 105-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Regina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Manitoba to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 59.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Regina forced 25 Manitoba turnovers and outrebounded them 51-23 including a 36-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Manitoba's players. Forward Danielle Schmidt (173-89) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Madi Docherty (170) chipped in 14 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Regina players scored in double figures. Forward Allison Balasko (180) produced 11 points and forward Mubo Ilelaboye (180-89) added 9 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Regina have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. Manitoba lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
