Regular Season Round 16: Ryerson - Ottawa 64-76

Date: January 14, 2012
Very expected game in Toronto where 6th ranked Ryerson (5-7) was defeated by first ranked Ottawa (10-2) 76-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ottawa. Ryerson was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ryerson 36-25 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Ottawa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 72.7 percentage. Center Hannah Sunley-Paisley (186) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International guard Kellie Ring (178-93) chipped in 18 points and 4 steals. Forward Angela Tilk (175) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and Bulgarian guard Dayana Gechkova (173) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ottawa have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Loser Ryerson dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. Ottawa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ottawa Carleton.
