Regular Season Round 16: Laurier - Lakehead 61-65

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Laurier (8-4) against fourth ranked Lakehead (7-5) on Saturday night. Host Laurier was defeated by Lakehead in a tough game in Waterloo 61-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Laurier. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Laurier won third quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Lacey McNulty (188-87, college: Toledo) fired 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lindsay Druery (185-88) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Lakehead players scored in double figures. Guard Felicia Mazerolle (160) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and guard Laura Doyle (170) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Laurier's coach Paul Falco tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lakehead moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Laurier dropped to the second position with four games lost. Lakehead will have a break next round. Laurier will play on the road against Guelph.
