Regular Season Round 15: Pyrinto II - Huima 95-78

Rather expected game in Tampere where 7th ranked Aanekosken Huima (6-9) was defeated by fourth ranked Pyrinto II (10-4) 95-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Pyrinto II. Aanekosken Huima was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pyrinto II dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Aanekosken Huima's 44. Pyrinto II forced 20 Aanekosken Huima turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Jari Pulkkinen (203-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Joni Harjula (189-83) helped adding 18 points and 6 assists. Four Pyrinto II players scored in double figures. Pyrinto II's coach Tero Hassinen used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Justice Graham (198-79, college: Glenville St.) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and forward Tuomas Viertola (196-90) scored 18 points. Pyrinto II moved-up to third place, which they share with Lapua. Loser Aanekosken Huima keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Pyrinto II will face Torpan Pojat (#11) in Helsinki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aanekosken Huima will play at home against Ura Basket (#10) in Kaarina.
