The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Chieti as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Chieti smashed their biggest opponent Recanati at home 92-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Recanati. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Chieti. Recanati was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Recanati 41-30 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chieti players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Recanati's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Emanuele Rossi (208-82) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Naturalized San Marino swingman Andrea Raschi (200-79) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Chieti players scored in double figures. Center Paolo Chiarello (204-78) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Marco Evangelisti (198-84) added 17 points respectively for Recanati in the defeat. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Bari and Recanati. Recanati will play next round against strong Firenze trying to get back on the winning streak. Chieti will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Trento at home.
