The most exciting game of round 16 in the Lega2 took place in Brescia. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Centrale Latte (9-6) to sixth ranked Sigma Barcellona (9-5) 71-68 in the game for the fourth place. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But Centrale Latte won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sigma Barcellona dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Centrale Latte's 30. Sigma Barcellona forced 22 Centrale Latte turnovers and outrebounded them 33-20 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 assists and 6 steals and Panamanian swingman Michael Hicks (193-76, college: Texas A&M-CC) who added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Sigma Barcellona players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Argentinian forward Mario Jose Ghersetti (200-81) responded with 24 points and 5 steals and American guard Leemire Goldwire (180-85, college: Charlotte, agency: Interperformances) scored 21 points and 4 assists. Centrale Latte's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sigma Barcellona have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Centrale Latte at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Givova Scafati. Sigma Barcellona are looking forward to face Morpho Basket (#7) in Piacenza in the next round. Centrale Latte will play on the road against S.Antimo in Sant'Antimo and is hoping to win this game.
