There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Torino (13-6) was defeated on the road by second ranked Trieste (12-6) 70-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 21-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Trieste made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Trieste outrebounded Torino 32-20 including 20 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Marco Carra (185-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points. Innocenzo Ferraro (200-82) helped adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Trieste players scored in double figures. At the losing side Luca Fontecchio (202-91, agency: Players Group) responded with 19 points and guard Marco Portannese (192-89, agency: Players Group) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Trieste maintains second place with 12-6 record having just three points less than leader Omegna which they share with defeated Torino. Torino at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Trieste will face Mazzeo San Severo (#4) on the road in the next round. Torino will play against the league's leader Napoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
