Regular Season Round 25: DongGuan L. - Foshan LL 111-109

Seventeenth-ranked Foshan (6-17) gave a tough game to second ranked DongGuan Leopards (16-8) on Sunday. DongGuan Leopards managed to secure only two-point victory 111-109. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 32-27 charge, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Foshan outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 54-37 including 23 on the offensive glass. Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!) for the winners and American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) chipped in 23 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Marcus Haislip (208-80, college: Tennessee) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds and Syrian guard Michel Maadanly (195-81) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 16-8 record having four points less than leader Guandong ST, which they share with Beijing Ducks. Foshan lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. DongGuan Leopards is looking forward to face Shanghai Sharks (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Foshan will play against Fujian SBS XunXin (#7) in Jinjiang and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
