The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Ragusa as it allowed them to take a leadership position in South. Ragusa defeated 5th ranked Orvieto at home 56-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Orvieto. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-12. But Orvieto won second period 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ragusa dominated on the defensive end, holding Orvieto to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 22 Orvieto turnovers. The best player for the winners was Mozambican center Clarisse Machanguana (194-73, college: ODU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Maria Buzzanca (171-76) chipped in 20 points. International forward Alessandra Tava (184-91) produced 11 points and Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Orvieto at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with S.E.Battipaglia. Orvieto will play next round against Il Fotoamatore Firenze trying to get back on the winning streak. Ragusa will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Pomezia in Roma.
