The game in Pozzuoli was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Lucca (8-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (4-8). Lucca managed to secure a 6-point victory 59-53 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pall.Pozzuoli won third quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lucca dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Pall.Pozzuoli's 24. Strangely Pall.Pozzuoli outrebounded Lucca 42-30 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Portuguese forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kelly Mazzante (183-82, college: Penn St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Serbian center Daliborka Vilipic (196-75) added 14 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Lucca moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Comense. Pall.Pozzuoli lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Lucca will meet at home higher ranked Umbertide (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Pall.Pozzuoli will play against Basket Parma (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
