There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Fabriano (6-13) defeated at home 3rd placed Ferentino (12-7) 71-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 24-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Fabriano forced 22 Ferentino turnovers. Ferentino was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Alessio Iardella (187-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Cosimo Fontani (195-89) helped adding 13 points. At the losing side forward Francesco Ihedioha (196-86) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Salvatore Parrillo (190-92) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ferentino's coach Franco Gramenzi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fabriano moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Ferentino at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Fabriano will face Santarcangelo (#6) in Sant'Arcangelo in the next round. Ferentino will play at home against Pavia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
