Regular Season Round 19: Perugia - Pall.Trento 69-72

Third-ranked Perugia (8-11) gave a tough game to first ranked Trento (14-5). The visitors from Trento managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected easier game. It looked good early as Perugia took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Trento had a 18-8 second period charge getting the lead and Perugia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-72. 24 personal fouls committed by Perugia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Walter Santarossa (200-78) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian point guard Andres Forray (187-86) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Trento players scored in double figures. Davide Poltroneri (195-85) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Giacomo Chiatti (183-86) added 16 points in the effort for Perugia. Perugia's coach Andrea Fabrizi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Trento have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-5 record. Perugia lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the third position with 11 games lost. Trento's next round opponent will be league's leader Chieti on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Perugia will play against Ruvo in Ruvo di Puglia.
