Regular Season Round 2: Qatar - Al Rayyan 45-76

Date: January 17, 2012
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#3) and Qatar Sports Club (#8). Qatar Sports Club was smashed at home by 31 points 45-76 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. International Erfan Ali (198-83) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Rayyan's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds by O Shiek did not help to save the game for Qatar Sports Club. M.Okoro added 10 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Defending champion (2-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Gharrafah and Al Arabi. Loser Qatar Sports Club still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Al Ahli and Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
