Regular Season Round 18: Ottawa - Carleton 34-74
Date: January 18, 2012
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Ottawa, ON: Ravens (#1) and Gee-Gees (#2). Gee-Gees were smashed at home by 40 points 34-74 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gee-Gees. The game was mostly controlled by Ravens. Gee-Gees was better in second period 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gee-Gees to just 6 points in first and third quarters. International forward Tyson Hinz (199-91) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and international guard Philip Scrubb (194-92) supported him with 9 points. Even 7 points and 6 rebounds by Vikas Gill did not help to save the game for Gee-Gees. Guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) added 7 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ravens (13-0) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 13 victories in a row. Gee-Gees at the other side keep the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Brock. Ravens will play against Golden Gaels (#7) in Kingston, ON in the next round where they are favorite. Gee-Gees will play at home against RMC (#8) in Kingston, ON and hope to get back on the winning track.
