Eighth-ranked KTP-Basket (9-16) was very close to win a game against first ranked Joensuun Kataja (20-4) on Wednesday. Joensuun Kataja managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But KTP-Basket won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Joensuun Kataja won last quarter 13-13. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Pro One Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import guard B.A. Walker (188-84, college: VCU, agency: Pro One Sports) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88, agency: The House of Baller!Stars) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Tim Blue (205-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for KTP-Basket. Joensuun Kataja have a solid four-game winning streak. Joensuun Kataja maintains first position with 20-4 record. KTP-Basket at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
