Regular Season Round 26: Shanghai S. - DongGuan L. 110-97

Very important is a road loss of second ranked DongGuan Leopards (16-9) against ninth ranked Shanghai Sharks (13-11) on Wednesday night. Visiting DongGuan Leopards were defeated by Shanghai Sharks in Shanghai 110-97. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of DongGuan Leopards. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Sharks. DongGuan Leopards was better in third quarter 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to DongGuan Leopards' 40. American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. The other American import forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 24 points for the winners. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) added 24 points in the effort for DongGuan Leopards. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shanghai Sharks maintains ninth position with 13-11 record. DongGuan Leopards at the other side dropped to the third place with nine games lost. Shanghai Sharks will play against higher ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (#6) in Jinjiang in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. DongGuan Leopards will play on the road against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Hangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
